“Hello, I'm Stephanie!
Welcome to my portfolio site.”
I graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a bachelor's degree in English and a minor in Theology. Working in a student-run newspaper as a news editor, I developed a passion for writing and decided to pursue a graduate degree in journalism. I attended the University of Southern California's Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. With a degree in online journalism, I learned best practices for today's new media landscape.
•American City Business Journals, an online and print business publication covering 40 U.S. markets. •The Acorn Newspaper, a five-newspaper group in Ventura County. •Tough Guppy Productions. As a project manager, I served as the contact person between the Los Angeles-based company's clients and our team of website developers, graphic designers and editors. •Morning Edition at NPR West in Culver City. Intern and temporary Editorial Assistant. •Interned at the BBC's Los Angeles bureau.
I'm looking for opportunities to use my multimedia and storytelling skills in long-term projects. As a journalist, I most enjoy being out in the field, speaking with people of all backgrounds to produce impactful stories that reach a wide audience. I am passionate about shedding light on inspirational people and telling explainer stories that helps an audience understand what's often not understood. I'm especially interested in audio storytelling and would one day like to work for a public radio station.
I'm a Southern California native who likes hiking, craft beer and traveling. I currently live in San Antonio, Texas, and though I miss living by the beach I'm enjoying my time in the Lone Star State. My interests outside of journalism include animal rights advocacy, fashion and makeup blogs, and my family. My heart belongs to my boxer dog Brutus (don't tell my fiancé!). I'm also a Starbucks fanatic—I'm about that Gold Card life—and enjoy people who bring me soy chai tea lattes.
